I agree totally. My 04 Acura TL allowed you to configure all of this stuff through a display in the instrument cluster. I'm sure Lexus figured it would be easier for customers to have the dealer do it, but it stinks if you want to change something later. For instance, I'd like my auto headlights to turn on sooner, but I don't want to make my dealer reprogram the car again.
When I bought my TL, my salesman went through all of the customizable settings with me to configure the car as I liked. That seems like the best approach to me, then if you sit down with the manual, you can always reprogram it yourself later. Just IMHO.
