it could be that your brakes were not bedded in properly. one result of improper bedding in is increased wear because when you bed in a set of brakes, a nice thin film sticks to the rotor surface and increases brake performance. if this film is never there, it starts wearing the rotor surface immediately and everytime u apply the brakes it wipes off the temporary film from the last time u braked.

this could be why some people have tons of brake dust and some do not. this sunday i washed my car for the first time in 2 weeks and the brake dust was not what i would call absurd.
