Console power outlet
Couldn't find a previous post on this. The console power outlet is so high on my 08, I cannot close the lid while charging my phone. The outlet is mounted lower on the 09's. I contacted Lexus Customer Satisfaction and and received a reply saying they are documenting this for "product improvement consideration". If enough 08 owners contact them, maybe we can get a retrofit kit. Their phone is 1-800-255-3987 and the person to talk to is Nanette Tran.

I got lucky and found a low profile USB charging adaptor for my iPhone / iPod. Works great and I can close the console.
go to any ATT store they have iphone car chargers with a short cord and not high at all and you can close the lid easily. I phone car charger works just fine.
Ummmm I use the cig lighter outlet in the ashtray without any problems as the source of power for my cell charger. Am I the only one????
My buddy has a GS and a Lexus rep told him not to use the cig lighter to charge phones because it burns the fuse out quickly. Not sure if that's accurate or not.

sounds like a load of bs because I always plugged my cell to charge in my 07 GS all the time. i use my all the time without problems.
i agree. the cig lighter and the plug in the console probably run on the same circuit linked to the same fuse. can't believe a "tech" or "service advisor" said that. wow!sounds like a load of bs because I always plugged my cell to charge in my 07 GS all the time. I have a dual charger that rotates 90 degrees. Works perfectly I think I got it at radioshack, bestbuy or frys cant remember.
Has anyone noticed the ashtray and console power outlets are switched? Is there a way to make them stay on so I can recharge my phone while the car is parked at work? Surely a little phone battery won't kill the car battery. It never did in my other cars.
I found a charger at Best Buy that has a right angle on the cord. Works great. Everything nice and neat.
