C-Best Options

I had a quick peek tonight at some of my C-best programming options (through a friend with software) and changed some configurations to my liking.

As the car is still new to me, I recently discovered that pressing the unlock button and holding opens all of the windows and sun roof (I changed my sunroof from full open to tilt only). Great option I have always wanted.

I pressed the lock button and expected it to close all of the above and nothing happens? I inserted the key manually into the lock and locked it, holding the key and it then closed all of my windows etc...

Is this normal, and if so, why did Lexus design it like this?.....or is there something wrong with my system? The owners manual seems to indicate, the fob will only auto open the windows only.

Same area, Mercury Silver - I had a IS300 for 10 years prior and have been a regular at Club Lexus meets in the west end for a very long time - with the LS, GS and IS guys. I am more active on myis.net, but like the freindliness of this small community as well.

....now back to the question at hand?
I have no clue as to why it is done this way. It is the same on my Sequioa though. I have always wondered the same thing, works to open it, but not close it.
Thanks...so long as it is normal. I was starting to think I accidently turned the option off, while programming.

It just plain weird why you can close it using the key manually and not the fob.

Interesting....I found a setting on key proximity, that can expand the range inside of the cabin....meaning the key can be further away from the ignition to enable starting. I could not think of how changing this benefited me, personally so I left it alone....but there is a ton of setting changes from lengthening many lighting options times to actually changing the warning beeps the car emits in volume and beeping speeds (high/low - slow/ fast)

yeah, I guess it could be worse. Before I responded I checked a few of my co-workers cars to see how they work...Suburban-can't open or close windows with FOB. Same for Ford F-350 no go for anything<--but he did say his AMG goes up and down. Now that you got me thinking about this again I'll do more investigating.
My 04 TL allowed you to open the windows/sunroof from the fob and close them using the key in the driver's side lock. You couldn't close them from the fob, ostensibly for safety reasons.

My wife's 04 MDX doesn't allow you to open the windows/sunroof via the fob, and I'm not sure about closing via the door lock. So it seems to vary by model in addition to manufacturer.

I just checked my neighbors Mercedes - everything opens and closes on the key Fob.

This is normal for 08 F. The manual will lay this out for you under the customized section. I thought this was strange as well.
It's probably due to limitations with the pinch protection programming when the vehicle is off/key is not detected, and as a legal/protective measure on Toyota's part if your drunk friend tried to put his head in the window sill as the window is going up.

Yes...and feeding the giraffes at the African Lion Safari! Unnecessary neck snapping..... always has legal drawbacks.
