I notice it too, especially when I'm rolling to a slow stop. It's normal and probably just brake dust. When you get on the brakes hard and hear them squeak then they would need to be replaced but nothing to worry about
I "watch" my rims as well, but it's not as rewarding as "watching" televisionits also possible that you might watch your rims to much, that may cause alot of screeching just keep on driving out the brake pads and what not, my friend has an SRT8 Jeep and he watches his rims all the time and after having only a month or so the brakes started to screech really loudly,
Also mine does screech a little only if i apply my brakes really slowly before i come to a complete stop, its weird!
I had this problem at around the same mileage you do. I talked to two dealerships and they said that since they're high friction brakes, if you don't use them to their full potential a light film can build on the rotor. They said to take the car out on the freeway or open road and when safe, do a really quick run to 0-80 or 100 then slow the car really quickly, not screeching tires quick but decently quick. When you do this, its supposed to help burn off the film. I did this on an open road 3-4 times (brought the car up to 80, then slowed really quick down to 40 and brought it back up to 100 and did the same thing) and it stopped the squeakingDo anyones brakes squeek when stopping? you know what i'm talking about. I mean the braking is great but I just starting hearing squeeking about a week ago? Is this something to get checked out or can I wait till the 5,000 mile service. I have about 2200 miles right now.
Thanks
Ya, like I posted earlier, when you get up to that speed and no ones around, slam on the brakes (not till you burn tires) but until you get a really good stop and bring it down to about 40-50 and do it a few times. It should help out a lotcool thanks guys! I go about 90 mph highway and 60 to 70 in the streets. So speed isnt the problem so im going to have to try that quickbraking tip.
I did but it still happened. High friction brake pads tend to squeak even if you bed them because when they're not used to their full potential, they develop a film. I bedded mine and still had squeaking problemsAre any of you bedding the Brembos? Just curious.
