Ok... I'm bringing this thread Back To Life. What were the results of the DYNO? I did a copy/paste from my post on Club Lexus concerning this today.

I'm actually considering the full catback Competition exhaust by Borla (12656), NOT the axle back... Along with JOEZ, ISS Forged, and the soon to be released Greddy Titanium exhaust. I am going to be FULLY bolted including ported/polished throttle body and intake manifold. I am also planning a 150, 175 or 200 shot of NOS. I wish we could find a DYNO somewhere. Powergains are my biggest concern, followed by sound and drone as a close second. Help me make a decision compared to the other exhausts. Any information/insight would be appreciated.

I recently installed the Borla exhaust on the F and it's great! I decided to try this out instead of another PTS JoeZ exhaust because I had been told by a few members that it didn't drone, it's a few lbs lighter than my previous exhaust setup and it was only $1037 shipped! Since I don't plan on running cats this time around, I needed to find an exhaust that didn't drone and was very happy to discover the Borla indeed did NOT. The SIKKY header and PTS JoeZ exhaust combination was just too uncomfortable to drive and the only way to get it comfortable was by adding cats. With the reports of cats failing I have decided against using them this time around, but may consider down the road having the exhaust modified to allow interchangability betwen cats and test pipes.

The exhaust installed easily on a lift, was leak free on the first start up, clearance looks good throughout, the power is on par with any other True Dual exhaust and it doesn't drone.

I am still making great power and even had my best run yet on the dyno at JE Import Performance. Below are two dynographs comparing my best run with the Borla to my best run in December 2010 and June 2010 (all non-cat). The comparison to my June 2010 run shows that I'm making more power throughout and compared to the Dec 2010 best run I appear to have only gained in the top end. The gains between PTS JoeZ exhaust and Borla are just about the same. I think this should be expected since they are both true-dual, utilize 2.5" piping, X-pipe and have a straight through design.

Did you get any CEL lights on? I had the full Borla and always flagged a CEL. I removed it and sold it as I didn't want to constantly see that light come up. Cleared it and it would come back in about a week.

There is no reason why the Borla exhaust would cause a CEL since it's no different than any other cat back exhaust that eliminates the secondary cats. Sounds like you had an exhaust leak around the O2 sensors or front flanges which may have flagged your CEL's.

Honestly I have no idea what the deal was. I pulled it down atleast 4 times and ensured a good flange seal. While running there were no exhaust leaks. I have the same original O2 sensors and it has never flagged again since removal of the Borla. I was advised of some 90 degree fittings to put in between the O2 sensors to fake the reading from them. Has anyone used them? I would like to gain something here but don't want the CEL.

Again, since the o2 sensor is in the exhaust manifold and doesn't get touched with an exhaust system change, I can't imagine what the issue can be. To get rid of a CEL, the best way now is with an o2 conditioner. It's all electronic and fools the system into thinking the exhaust gas measurements are OK. Did you use a scanner to read the CEL code? It would be interesting to know what the code is.

P420 which is a generic code for catalyst system effeciency below threshold. It would flag after a couple days, I would clear it and again back in a couple days. Replaced the exhaust with the OEM and it was fine again. I did this 4 times. Thanks for your help :)

Good luck, I wish you to get to the bottom of this...

Does anyone know about how much gains can you get from just borla cat-back?

If I was to get one it would need to be welded as i dont like the slip on design.
