Just FYI.. The Borla exhasut for the IS-F is out. I just saw it on their website for $899.99. It's not a true dual exhaust but the muffler's have quad outlets.:(

Here is a link for those who want to look and don't feel like searching  I wonder what the performance gains are. They're probably similar to Tenabe's version of the same type of exhaust (rear section).

I was just checking out the web site and there is another version listed w/o tips off road for $1299.99. Click the link and scroll down to Lexus part #12656

The gains are not listed.

Isn't it the same with the JoeZ exhaust system, in terms of passing smog?

Yup same thing in terms of smog.

Also noticed on the Borla site some updated information and the exhaust is slightly different than those we have seen thus far. The borla mufflers have dual outlets on each to match up with the exhaust diffusers in the bumper, they use a single resonator vs two separate ones and the x pipe looks pretty beefy.
Here in CA, no cats equates to failing visual smog inspection.
Cayman, I like how this Borla looks, esp the tips matching up...is anyone gonna try this thing?...wonder how loud it is as well....the comments on Borla quality have me nervous...I thought they were known for their quality
The Borla webpage also has a link to an installation PDF file for the IS F which includes some photos of their exhaust. I prefer the flanges on the Joe Z exhaust over the muffler clamps on the Borla but it does appear to keep the cost down. Unfortunately, Borla doesn't list the diameter (I'll assume 2.5" by the clamp size listed) or weight of the exhaust. It's good to see another manufacturer acknowledging our cars existence!
I wonder if they are using their XR-1 mufflers...if they are, expect some good HP gains and sound!

You should get the exhaust so I can hear it. :p
Actually, I might!!!
Actually, I might!!!
That would be sweet. I'd be interested to hear the difference between that and the PTS JoeZ exhaust I have on the way.

+1 for the difference between the two

Was anyone ever able to get sound clips or dyno information from Borla or a third party (preferred)?
Just from my past experience with Borla systems, they are usually not that loud, definitely lighter than stock and sounds sweet. With their full off road system, from their drawing it looks like they are using dual pipes and I really wonder how it will sound with just the resonator & no mufflers.
Pkrockt let us know if you get a Borla, I'd like to hear more about it before I get my hands on one. The off-road interests me.

By the way, what do you have in your STi? I am the dealer for ECUTEK Philippines, and we've managed to squeeze 314WHP out of an 08 STI using ONLY 3" exhaust and downpipe, Pipercross drop in filters and a lot of hours in re-mapping. No internal mods.
On my STI, I have a semi built motor, stock cams, TurboXS's GT30R .82 hotside kit, all supporting mods, running only 19psi and tuned somewhat conservatively by Jermaine at TurboXS. It's a road course car which is why I did not go bigger (GT35R+). It's no doubt a lot of fun to drive.

Back to the ISF...With K&N just releasing their Typhoon intake, I may just get the Borla system along with it. I've used K&N's products on all my cars for over 18 years and no complaints. Stay tuned...
Geat set up on the Scooby, certainly not overdone for what it delivers.

Hello All,
This is Chris Higgins w/Borla Performance Industries in Oxnard, CA. I thought I would hop in & answer a few questions about our systems. We do have our tips positioned & welded to the mufflers to correspond to the fascia tip exit points used by Lexus. While I wasn't able to find our dyno results, but I do have our flowbench test results. Also, I've included the weights of our exhaust systems.

Rear Section (aka Axel-Back) p#11765
  • Street Legal
  • Bolts up to the factory 3" flange and splits into dual 2.5" tubing
  • Weighs 30lbs
  • Flowbench Test - Flows 236 more cubic inches of water than stock

True Dual Cat-Back p#12656
  • Race System - NOT Street Legal
  • Dual 2.5" tubing all the way from factory flanges
  • Weighs 54lbs
  • Flowbench Test - Flows 366 more cubic inches of water than stock

Thanks for your interest in our product & let me know if you have any other technical questions!:D
