Back from Laguna Seca, I need an IS-F

Hello ISF'ers,

I've just finished the two day high performance driving school by Skip Barber at Laguna Seca. Since its release, they've had an exclusive deal to use the IS-F. Coming from several high performance German cars, I was extremely impressed with the F. The sound is incredible and while I didn't love it on the AutoX course, it was incredible on the track (I could downshift all day). There aren't too many test drives that end up breaking 100mph and flying down the Corkscrew.

I drive a highly modified A4 2.0T, but my pops is thinking of replacing his Jag XJR with the F. So what should we look for heading to the dealer? And once it's in the garage, how do I make it go, stop, and turn faster?

Welcome! I had an opportunity to drive the IS F before it's public release at Laguna Seca several times. It sure is a fun car on the big track.

As for what to what you're looking for, the car is going to be a rare find if you're in CA. Some dealerships have a few in stock. You are going to find a typical Mark Levinson and Navigation packaged car with a sticker price under $62k. As for making it go, stop and turn faster, you can add an intake and exhaust, upgrade the brake pads or brakes all together and add larger wheels/tires like any other car out there.

I'm working on headers with the guy that owns sikky as well as some other things. The list for mods is short right now but the f is gaining more and more fame which means more and more parts will be made.

Where are you located. Stevens Creek Lexus (San Jose) has about 4 2009's.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry I didn't specify, but I'm from the burbs of Philly. I know my local dealer had a used 08, but generally always have one or two 2009 F's in stock. Will be checking them out as soon as I get back on Monday.

Also, do the Volk TE37's fit? Love that wheel

Let me know by PM or e-mail if I can help you out. I have 2 2009 IS-F's at the moment. One in white and one in silver. The silver has a Joe Z exhaust and intake.

FChampOH is the Joe Z exhaust and intake covered under the lexus warranty?

I don't think in general any lexus dealership would cover those mods on the warranty, but perhaps Doug's dealership might. Doug will definitely know the answer to this.

Lexus will not cover "non-Lexus" parts. But at the same time they can't tell you what you can and can't do to your car. Some dealers will turn down claims just because it is easier. Some dealers will work with customers if that dealer installed aftermarket parts sold and supported by that dealer. We try to be reasonable, if the aftermarket part is not a direct result of whatever warrantable condition might be happening then we fight for the customer. Makes sense, right? This silver 2009 we have has been driven for about 800-1000 miles with intake and exhaust on it with NO Problems. All we did was make that big air pump under the hood breathe a little better.

Any idea what the F-Sport intake may offer as far as HP gains?

The f-sport intake is solely for the IS250 and IS350.
