Anyone thinking about getting a GT-R? Think again

Well I figured I'd share some insider info on the new GT-R.Sources told me through other dealerships that the new GT-R is having transmission problems and that Nissan is also voiding people's warranty for this,leaving people who paid 70k and up no warranty and a bad tranny !!

The problem is that there is a launch control button that if activated,voids the warranty.

Why would Nissan build a car of this magnitude and put the launch control button in it when you cant use it!! Well glad I bought my "F" because I'll never have that problem, and I didn't pay 10-20k over msrp.Stick with the Toyota/Lexus brand and "F" everyone else!!

Interesting. I heard something about that before. I agree with you though Smoke, why build a car like a GT-R but not let people drive it the way it was made to driven? I posted some info below I found on a Nissan forum from a Nissan tech

One of my techs just got back from a special Nissan training GTR deal. Here are some interesting Facts.
-Can only launch the car 15 times before the transmission gives out. The most Nissan has got was 34 launches.
-The fluid lists at 80 dollars a quart. It costs dealerships 49.99 a quart. The car takes 10 quarts.
-The warranty depends on the driving, there is a black box in it just like an airplane.
-Customers have to sign a waiver stating they will not complain about brake or transmission noise.
-The brakes MUST be replaced at the same time, cost for replacing 6500.
-If something goes wrong other than an oil change at the dealership, a special team needs to be called and your outta a car for a while.
So yea. Sounds promising. Sounds fast, for a couple of months.

Hmm very interesting... I've been looking at GT-R videos all day at home and was thinking about picking one up... Guess I'll wait for the next go around, this car seems like it needs a lot of revamping with the next few models... At this point it almost seems as if you pay so much less compared to other super cars because you'll have to spend what you save on maintenance

Thanks for the info but I knew about this month ago.
The Dealer near me almost had me sold on the car b/c he actually was genuine about the sale and the markup wasn't no where nearly as high..
Long story short basically what smoke said and what Mike mentioned word per word is close to accuracy of what the salesman at the nissan told me..
I went to 2 Nissan dealerships and the one who almost had me sold is about 30 minute drive but the one near my house gave me nothing but B.S stories about $30K Deposit..

Enough said..Still love the car but honestly Either way give or take me or anyone who plans on purchasing one maybe they should wait for V-Spec(If you got the cash) or wait till they fix more issues with the tranny(Launch mode)..
But Still the car goes under 4.0 Sec 0-60 without launch mode..With it 3.3 Sec run..

If that's the issue they should bring back the R34 and release it to the US.. Much more stable then the current latest crapped up warranty and tranny which gives the GT-R a bad rep.. Very disappointed in Nissan..

Are there any warnings about the launch mode voiding the warranty? By the way what does this launch mode actually do?

You could use the launch mode but only a handfull of times before they will void your warranty--- that's BS. No way in hell I'm gonna pay that much for a car and your gonna void my warranty!!!!!

You want me to sign what waiver ?? !!!

GET THE F OUTTA HERE, trying to pull a fast one on me

. I betcha if they told this to everybody buying this car,no one will buy it.

In some way it's benefit..It draws people away from buying it, this way less and less of them you see on the road which means you'll appreciate it more of the car..YES?

I got an email from a Nissan dealer general manager not long ago. Told me he has another car available, and i could buy it for ONLY $90,000..

I replied, "thanks, but no" told him i was buying an F. He emailed me back one line:

"ENJOY THE CAR!!"

Thanks, i'm sure i will.

What are people's experiences at dealerships lately with this car? What I mean is, are the outrageous markups still being asked, despite the horrible economy, etc? What kinds of numbers are you seeing out there?

My opinion are these..
1.Markup is TOO HIGH as is on this sh**y economy as everyone knows it..
2.Launch mode is the MAIN REASON why GT-R accelerates 3.3 sec run on 0-60 and yet Nissan mentions that warranty will get AVOID if it's used..WTF?

Then why have it?
3.The hype is too much, don't get me wrong it's super car(Budget Supercar) no doubt but it's no Lambo or Bugatti or whatever it's out there..

Overall Very good car but it's not Super exotic, although I wouldn't mind having one but with the dealer markup(HUGE), a no no..
