Any new info about the possibility of a TRD supercharger for the IS-F?

It was only a bad rumor. There were never any plans to make one. Now that the IS F will possibly special order only...there's no chance of it happening ever.

Special Order in what way? The Supercharger or the IS-F?

Special order meaning the only way to buy a brand new IS F in the possible near future will be if you special order it.

I think he was referring to the IS-F being special order.

If the IS-F does become special order only, would that be indicative of Lexus considering it a failure? That would be sad, because it is a darn good first attempt at going after the M3. Far better than I would have expected.

Special order for an F isn't a bad idea. Good business strategy.

It can't be a bad business strategy, Lexus is being conservative at the moment. Especially with the current economy, no one is willing to spend money on anything. Having it on special order also makes the car RARE which makes us the F owners feel even more special. =D

id rather parts be abundant in the future

I'm still confused as to what exactly 'special order' means. Would someone please explain. Does it mean limited production? If so, how many units? How does that compare to current production?

How reliable is the 'special order' situation info?

As I take it, IS-F's would in all likelyhood not be on the showroom floor or sitting on the lot anyplace. You would have to place a order with Lexus and wait for the car to be built and then delivered to your local dealer. I think the number of "units" built would coincide with the amount ordered and no more.

Special order means your local dealership may not have it available in their inventory. If you want one, you will have to wait and order it. Yes it is limited production. For example, there were nearly 5000 units produced for the world and about half of them were sent here to the US. I don't have the production numbers for 2009 but just to give you an idea, 2009 IS F production for the world was halted at the beginning of this year and resumed just a few months ago in very small quantities.

Some numbers were reported from January 09 to June 5th, 2009... per Edmunds.

Approximately only 445 units were sold... No report if these were left over 08's mixed in with the 09's.. or just 2009's..
