Another Intake Option

Takeda, a name much better known on the Nissan side (Z, G and etc) has just come out with, IMO, a cleverly designed Intake system for the F that employs the stock vacuum operated two stage intake. It has a semi-sealed (It has a small opening in the very front) enclosure with a dry reusable cone filter. I have ordered one from B2 Auto Designs and it should be here this week. I'll post pics and overall impressions when it's installed. If it works out, and I have no reason to think it wont, I'll have my K&N Drop-In filter and JoeZ intake up for sale:D

That looks so good. I love the use of the stock air box as well. Let me know when installed and if you are please as I will have a K&N for sale as well.

16+ HP!! Wow. What is your current K&N plus JoeZ supposed to give you?
Can't wait to see and hear reviews. Ideally some dyno or track numbers would be awesome and solidify the claims and numbers

Lowrider, thanks for the heads up! I checked it out thoroughly and was so impressed I ordered one too. I also read several reviews for the AFE intake systems and all were quite favorable. I did not want to violate the stock 2-stage intake system. This one should provide all the positives and none of the negatives.

^Please let us know how it goes. What site are people ordering them from if they don't mind me asking? If you do, just PM me the site please, I'm curious of the price range for this particular intake.
this is a very nice system, nice find. i'm happy with the stock airbox but something gives me the idea that this 16hp is a bit more legit than the other intakes out there.

5+rwhp.. I am curious to see the results as well, I have the TOM'S drop in on order. Is the 16hp to the wheel or to the engine? Using the stock setup is smart I dont know about the small opening if hot air would soak in and drop performance. To me the results sound high I dunno will wait for the results.
The 16hp would be at the crank.

I like the look of the system because it uses the stock air box and clips into it. I think the hole on the side will be covered up by the stock intake system and will make a proper seal. I also like the dry filter element. Looks good.

The stock intake unfortunately does not complete the seal on this intake. Other than that I agree this is a better alternative to k&n.

Well, it came today. Two hours after receipt, it was on the car. I downloaded the installation instructions before I received it and familiarised myself with the installation procedure, so I was ready to go. The opening in the front is necessary because the filter is larger than the housing on that side. IMO, the quality of the kit is very good and I believe it is well engineered. The shroud is good quality metal and is crinkle powder coated. All in all a well designed unit. As far as sound goes - Reving up with the hood open, you can now hear that open element sucking sound, although it's very quiet. At WOT, sounds pretty much the same, but a wee bit louder. At mild acceleration, it sounds more throaty. It's too early to tell if there is a performance difference. I'm happy with my choice.

My JoeZ and K&N Drop-In Filter is for sale here:

Looks great Lou! I wonder if they'll offer different color options.

So the stock air box is untouched and the secondary intake still functions properly?

The intake looks good, I just don't like the opening on the side.

I doubt it. A couple of their kits do offer the polished or a flat black version, but again, I believe that's offered in only three of their applications.

Yes, it retains the outer or intake side of the stock airbox. As far as the opening in the side, the design is actually quite clever. The filter does protrude out of the side of that opening. The box is actually a tight fit, and if it were made to completely encircle the cone filter it would not have fit within the confines of the cavity.

looks very nice...kinda makes me wish I had waited to order the JoeZ intake pipe and Tom's filter. I just received them in the mail today.

Oh well, this will be my first performance upgrade on my F. Plus the blue intake pipe should look sharp.

Once again, your new intake looks great.
Wait, so the filter cone is going inside the air box? If so, I'm ordering one!
Yes, its inside the airbox but there is a small window that is not covered. This link has additional pics and information.

^^^^Actually the link you provided has the exact same pics as this thread, and the same information. I posted to both of them.

I like the way this looks, I am going to check into a dealership for this stuff. AFE makes a lot of applications. Maybe I can address the sealing issue.

Lets see some Independent before & after dyno's already...... :p
