5000 mi maintenance questions?

2874 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Joe Z
My Is-f just underwent the 5000 mi service. They did the following:

Element kit, oil qty 1
Gasket, qty 1
Oil 5w30, 7 qt

Is it just me but shouldn't they have changed 10 qts? Also, weren't they supposed to perform the tire rotation?

Can't rotate the 19" staggered directional wheels... or tires..

The IS-F takes 10 quarts of oil...

Check your dipstick..
I have a feeling they didn't allow the oil to fully drip out and just changed out 7 out of 10 qts.

Wouldn't be surprised. Having done this myself, it takes about 10 minutes for the oil to drain to a drip. I'm surprised they wouldn't charge you for a full 10 qts though. Was this at an actual Lexus dealer?
I would go back to the service department and ask them why they only changed 7 quarts.
I called the service dept and they told me that an internal charging code only allows for 7 quarts to be entered into the computer. They said in actuality 10 quarts was exchanged. Does this sound credible?
You didn't pay for this did you? Because the first 5000k oil change should be free at any lexus dealership.

most likely, the technician was clueless about how much he added. check your dipstick. if it is full, i would not worry about it.
I just did my 1st oil change the other night.

I let it Full Drain for a while.. but not too long...

I poured Two 5qt jugs into the engine when I was done..

Next day after I drove to work and let it sit for 8-9 hours, I pulled the dipstick before starting... Cleaned it, put it back in again and pulled it out..

The Fresh Oil was right at the correct level, just at the top of the 2nd dot..
