New Member, heart set on new IS-F...

Hey all. I am new to the forum. Wow, looks like a great forum you've got going here. I am hopeful that I'll be joining you all as an IS-F owner soon. I'm waiting on some cash, and want to do a test drive first (though it seems like a formality), and then I am off to the dealerships.

I have done lots of research but I am unclear on one thing... Is XM satellite a standard feature? Can you also get the iPod interface too? I read online that the Sirius adapter and the iPod kit are not compatible, but what I saw elsewhere suggested that XM is built in. For me, XM/Sirius is more important than the iPod, though I would like the iPod capability as well.

Can someone shed some light on this so I look like I know what I am talking about when I get to the dealership? Thanks in advance.

Hopefully, in a few weeks, I'll be posting a pic of my new ride!

If you want the ability to use XM/Sirius, then you'll have to use the auxiliary input in the armrest for your iPod.

If you want the iPod adapter feature so you can control the iPod through the audio system and steering wheel, then it will run through the SAT channel so you won't be able to have XM/Sirius.

Most cars are like that...so tough decision if you want both.

Not a Tough Decision, at least for me...

That's what I actually wanted to hear. This is not a tough decision at all, at least for me. XM/Sirius is the most important to me, because I get bored with my own library after a few weeks. I then listen to satellite radio for a few months, then the cycle happens again. If there's an AUX port in the armrest for occasional iPod use, that's perfect -- just want it there for when the cycle resets.

the ipod interface is just so-so in my opinion so its probably a good thing that you don't mind using the aux port... i guess if you wanted, you could run xm/sirius through the aux so it can be portable?

My dealer installed an aftermarket iPod interface that works through the CD changer button (press once for the CD changer, twice for the iPod). It then allows you to have Sirius or XM through the SAT button. My dealer wanted $1200 for the satellite receiver so I decided I didn't want satellite radio that badly

If you want me too look up the manufacturer of the aftermarket iPod kit, let me know and I will dig up the owner's manual. It seems to work pretty well. There are some odd limits (like max 999 songs per playlist), but otherwise no complaints. Obviously like everything on the nav screen, you can't change songs/playlists while the car is moving.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! I'll deal with seeing if I can swing the car (and get a good deal) first, and then deal with the music issues.

Ok, I have not received my 2010, but in Canada, we get xm and a USB connector in the armrest and I can do streaming audio to the stereo wrielessly. Isn't that the case in the usa?
