I am not sure if this fits in this topic properly, but does anyone have any advice on how to get the DVD navigation system for 08 ISF updated. What are the different options. Ofcourse I can go and pay the dealer to do the upgrade, but is there an easier way to DIY.

After purchasing a new and updated disk from Lexus you will need to get your tool kit from the trunk, open it and look for two long skinny metal studs. Use these to slip into the holes in the center of your radio console and pop out the cover to gain access to the DVD nav unit and replace the disk with the new one. Your nav manual should have all this info.

Check ebay, I got mine on there for about $40 less then the parts counter at my dealer. I think I paid $120. Oh, and the install is super easy!!

Nope that is old - Newest one is Gen 5 11.1

Gen 5 means disc based, as the Gen 6 is HDD (Hard Drive) for the newer IS F's (thumb drive loaded).

Although I did not see much difference between 10.1 and 11.1 versions.

These updates can include new mapping and buttons and minor functional changes that happen year over year. As an example if you have the "I Agree" button on your Nav - the newer updates remove this annoying feature.

12.1 will be available in the fall

What Digger said concerning the updates. New roads being built and mapped. The new disk shows them as opposed to driving in a void
