I've actually only been stomped by 1 CAR!! in 1 1/2 years of Driving my F... I've got SLK's, CLK's, Z06's, Roushe Mustangs, Charger SRT's, M3's, New M3's, etc. under my belt.. The only one that gave me trouble was a porshe 911 twin turbo all tricked out, i think it was stock, it was lemon yellow with black side markings and black/yellow wheels.. it was SICK!! and sounded like a jet plane.. It was scawy You'd have smoked this guy.. Mines got full race exhaust and cold air intake custom system. I dont even waste the gas anymore for the average mustang or rice burner... lol.

With an STI, you never know. You could walk on it handily, or it could run from you...there are just too many modifications available for it.

2008 Lexus IS F - SGM - JoeZ intake pipe, Tom's filter, Borla catback exhaust, 30% tint all around, 245/35R19 and 275/30R19 Continental DWS tires
2006 Honda CBR1000RR - Akrapovic Evolution Line Race Exhaust, BMC Race Air Filters, Vortec Rear Sets, Bazzaz Tuner, Dyno Mapped
2000 Honda S2000 (Sold and missed)- AP2 in an AP1, BC coilovers, Prodrive monoblock forged wheels, etc.

time is on our side

Those RS4, S4, S5, 335i, M3 and Cymans will not be a problem for you in a year or two. Do a research on Audi, BMW and Porsche direct injection carbon deposit problem and you'll know why. They have a major design flaw in their direct injected engines on these cars. From about 5,000 miles and on, excess carbon deposit builds on the intake valves. Over time, this causes slow start, rough idle, power loss until at about 50K miles, the engine will die because it choked itself. I seen and S4 FSI cylinder head that literally had all the intake parts locked up because it was filled with rock solid carbon deposits. So these cars will self-destruct. The only other way to prevent this is do tear out the cylinder head and clean everything by hand every 5K miles. Sad part is that Audi and BMW knows about this, have refused to do anything about it and keeps on selling these cars knowing the engine will die ... after the warranty expires.

This is widely talked about in other forums where owners are envious of Lexus' foresight of having dual port and direct injectors which cleans out the valves and solves this problem! So you see... he who laughes last laughes the longest

Also I never forget that I bought the F because I wanted a car that is reliable, comfortable and something that can put a grin on my face once in a while. I enjoy my leisurely ride and feel that secondary intake on a long stretch of empty road on my own terms. If my sole purpose is to beat everyone, I would have bought a C63 with the 480bhp AMG performance upgrade or a GT-R and paid $8K to get the Hennessy upgrade to a GTR600 with a 2.9s 0-60 time which can out-accelerate Lambo Murcielagos.
Our F is probably the best all round sports sedan when you consider every category so be at peace with yourself, my friend.

Ted, thanks for the link, this is great insight into why Lexus does things the way they do. Long term testing, etc. Great information!

Ted summed up all the reasons why I bought the F. It is by far the best choice if you only have room for one car. Regarding performance, if we lowered the reliability and comfort of our vehicles to other manufactures standards, sure we could tap 600hp out of that engine and put on some hardcore coil overs. Unfortunately its a new car and a brutal ECU to crack. The complexity of the valvetrain has me sceptical about aftermarket solutions in the near future.

Heh good to see fellow anandtech readers

335i's are known to be quicker than the new M3 easily with just a few mods.
