: Lowering Springs
abyars 12-28-2009, 12:47 PM I know I have found several threads concerning springs but I just want the folks that have installed them to let me know the following please:
1. What type did you purchase?
2. Was there ANY spring slap?
3. If there was any how did you remedy it?
4. Were there any alignment issues with regards to the rear tires?
5. Are you rubbing tires AT ALL?
6. Did you get brave and change tires size and if so what size?
The reason I ask is I lowered an IS350 with the F-Sport springs and had terrible spring slap and had to install the Tein spring rubbers around the WHOLE DAMN SPRING on all 4 corners to get it to shut up:mad:. I do not want to deal with that again.
Thanks in advance.
Andy
BigMikeISF 12-28-2009, 02:29 PM 1. What type did you purchase?
Tein
2. Was there ANY spring slap?
None what so ever
3. If there was any how did you remedy it?
N/A
4. Were there any alignment issues with regards to the rear tires?
I installed the springs, waited for them to settle then had the dealership do an alignment. No issues at all regarding rear tire alignment. With Tein, the rear drop is minimal (.6 of an inch) so there should be no problems. I still have my alignment sheet if you'd like specific numbers.
5. Are you rubbing tires AT ALL?
Nope
6. Did you get brave and change tires size and if so what size?
Not yet
Hope this helps
abyars 12-28-2009, 05:52 PM Thank You, looks like the Christmas Money from Santa is going to buy some springs :)
robbys3m3 12-28-2009, 08:44 PM I have the Teins also and love them. Everything Mike said above applies to me as well.
sweetbird 01-06-2010, 08:15 PM were can i get a set of teins? and how was the ride Quality? Did the ride become more harsh than stock?
BigMikeISF 01-06-2010, 08:44 PM You can purchase Teins all over the internet. I personally purchased mine from Clark at VIP Auto Salon (clark@vipautosalon.com). The ride quality is smoother than stock in my opinion and no where near as harsh

mebuildit 01-09-2010, 06:02 PM Just curious, why not buy Eibachs? or do they not make them?
IsFly168 01-09-2010, 06:36 PM Just curious, why not buy Eibachs? or do they not make them?
Eibach makes springs for the F but its close to no drop at all,, .6inch front and .3 inch rear!!! whereas the Teins are 1 inch front and .7 rear. I've actually heard of ppl just doing the fronts only for the eibach springs and leaving the rear stock..
BigMikeISF 01-09-2010, 09:25 PM Just curious, why not buy Eibachs? or do they not make them?
Like ISfly168 has stated, Eibach does make springs for the F however they provide little to no noticeable drop on the F. I had a buddy who was running Eibachs on his F, saw how the F looked on Tein and immediately switched. He also stated that the ride on the Teins was better than on the Eibach.
You can run Eibachs on the front or back with Teins on the opposite side (Eibach front, Teins back, etc.) however I wouldn't recommend it. If you're going to do it, make them all the same springs.
RichieISF 03-24-2010, 03:53 AM Whats type of Teins are these you guys speak of, the H Series.?
Does it affect the handling, ride, etc
Any pics of your cars before and after , would be great ,
Am looking at lowering my ISF, seems they sit up in the front ...alot!
Thanks guys

a bit of a dusty bump, but a related question nonetheless...
how does Teins compare to Swift? in terms of ride quality and drop.
Technik330 02-22-2011, 08:54 PM I know Swift springs don't sag much at all, if at all.
M.A.S. 02-28-2011, 09:05 PM Clark from VIP Auto Salon is where to buy the Tein.
are most people running with the gold or green Tein springs?
F'n around 03-01-2011, 04:20 PM Mine is gold.

they only have the h tech available which is the gold ones.

Well the ride quality on both is better then stock I believe. The drop im not sure but you can check their websites for the specs. If your leaning for performance then go with swift, if your leaning more towards comfortability go with teins. I think these 2 are great. I drove another F with teins and ride quality is better.
F'n around 03-02-2011, 03:54 PM ^^^completely agree with the improved ride quality. The ride is not a jarring and far more compliant, but amazingly enough, due to to lower center of gravity it is more aggressive in the corners. I also installed the F Sport rear sway bar, so that help in the corners too. Way less understeer in the corners now.
omarab12 03-02-2011, 05:04 PM I bought a set of Eibach's but I'm quite reluctant on installing them as I plan to go wider on the tires. I believe i should not face any rubbing issues if I go 245/35/19 up front and 275/30/19 in the back right? The other thing that I have really tried to look for on the forum and couldn't get a solid answer on is Do the Eibach improve handling properly or is does it just make the ride less harsh?

You should not have any issues with those sizes. I ran the same setup in 20 inch on my '08 with eibach and had no fender rub at all. The only thing that rubbed was the front plastic air dam when the wheel was turned over 3/4. Occasionally the rear felt would rub - but again I was running 20's.
I have the same setup on my '10 but have not put springs on yet. I might go with coil overs or teins if I decide to roll the fenders and drop down to a 30 - 25 setup. Don't know how to correct the rubbing of the plastic up front though. Again, you should be fine with 19's.
omarab12 03-04-2011, 12:17 PM Thanks ByonD F for the reply. Now I have a heads up to install them... My other question is how well do the Eibach springs improve handling??
ByonD F 03-04-2011, 02:57 PM Well - the ride is noticeably better and I thought the handling was as well. The only way to really know is a before and after with a stopwatch...
