That sucks.. i have heard there is one that automatically puts you in a better gear when you switch from auto to manual.. like 8th to 4th gear

sounds like you're talking about the Blitz throttle controller maybe?

Msbailey44

that might be it

does the blitz throttle controller do that??? I highly doubt it

I don't think so. It just makes the car more responsive when you step on the gas, and you do feel the difference.

I don't understand why Lexus made it so hard. All other cars in it's category have tunes available. Maybe if they let tuners in the ECU sales might go up since most people that buy the IS-F want to modify it...

The new M3 already has at least 5 ECU tunes with a minimum of 15whp gains. I'm still trying to figure out why the heck it's so impossible to crack the Toyota ECU.

Simply because it is a ROM, it is not writable. The only solution is an piggy back for light tuning or a standalone unit for advanced tuning. I have a HKS FCON V Pro on my IS

Did you dyno tune the HKS FCON? If so, what kind of gains and what was adjusted?

Yes it was dyno tuned, it is not on an IS-F though so the power gain is not really relevant in this case as my IS has a supercharger amongst other mods

Unfortunately there are no "chip" mods for any Toyota or Lexus ECU. No company has been successful at cracking the Toyota ECM programming. If you see any company making claims to "reflash" the ECM, beware.

This ISF modding is really starting to get on my nerves!!!!
if i knew it was going to be this hard to mod out the ISF and for example chip the ECU"" I would have gone with the M3 hands down. Im a die hard Honda fan so the transition wasn't difficult to go with another japanese car, but having this car with this much potential and no serious mods is really getting rediculous!!!!! we don't even have headers out yet!!! and Im still dealing with my ISF that's a LEMON! it wont' even FUkkin drive straight! corporate Lexus wants to take their sweet ass time and not do a thing about it. my situation has been going on since i bought the car in march 09 and it's still not resolved. i had a buddy that had a lemon BMW and was resolved within 5 weeks

Sorry bout your issues. Mine has been flawless with the exception of one dead headlight. I TOTALLY agree with you in regards to the aftermarket suppliers. I really wish there were more but having a Lexus on the road or a BMW in the shop, then I prefer the Lexus with the lack of aftermarket parts.

Guys the ISF is a brand new car. It's not like the M3 that has been around for years. It will take time for companies to make parts. I know that in a few years there will be tons of parts for our cars. If you want something done about it take your F to your best local import performance shop and see what they can make. That's what I did. I know the guys who are making my headers have a lot of other ideas so be patient.

It is a brand new car but if the ECU is uncrackable then that really sucks. We can't chip it and tunes are the best mod.

Who manufactures it? The part number is not coming up. A website with details would be nice.
Thanks,

ECU modding/"Chipping" on a naturally aspirated car will not yield the type of power increase people are seeking.

It works well with turbocharged cars, and believe me I spent 6 years owning a WRX STi, where ECU and exhaust increased the horsepower by 60 and the torque by about 85 lbs-ft. That upgrade was $1400 after tuning. A drop in the bucket price wise, that's why these cars are so popular.

The gains on the BMW M3 from ECU will not be as much, I can't even see the price justification for it.

Here is the Dinan "menu" for the M3:

http://www.dinancars.com/store/home.php?cat=818&sort=orderby&sort_direction=0&page=2

An ECU upgrade costs $ 799-999.............it increases the rev limited from 8400 to 8600......so great, but how much power underneath the curve does it net?

Look at the exhaust system cost, about $2300...........again, how much more power (forget the sound for a second)

Then there is the whole stroker kit engine, so you get a 4.8L unit that pumps out 502 bhp and 384 torque..........$23,000!!!!!

The cost vs. power increase is not worth it on the other side...........is it cool? Yes....will it sound better? yes.............will it be a little faster than stock? yes........

The grass is not greener on the other side.

Now if you bolt on a Twin Turbo kit............it's a different story, but you'll need a piggy back and tuning for that.
