how did it happen? The tranny on the F should be very strong and reliable unless you did something wrong.

Would you mind giving us more details on the "transmission"? How many miles? What were you doing when it started giving you problems? etc..

ill tell u what i had a lot of after market parts on it like blittz throttle body controller and intake and exhaust i always used the manual shifting at all time and i would down shift a lot and i would floor it a lot with my throttle body controller on sp3 with sports mode on it got screwed up my car has about 9 thousand miles and everytime i put it in park to reverse there is a big kick and also from second to third gear it kicks also there is a huge delay in the automatic mode when i floor it, it takes 3-4 sec before it picks up its weird dealer confirmed that it was a transmission problem and now they having it inspected.

I couldn't agree more. I've noticed quite a few people on this site writing in jibberish...makes me want to visit the site less and less.

Maybe you should!!:D

I remember back in the day, when BMW released the SMG with the M3 they had a lot of issues with the transmission. Mostly coz it was a new concept to most drivers as a result ended up being abused. Am assuming the warranty would cover such damage?

Maybe the mods aren't a good idea after all, or is it the way you drive? I would hate to buy expensive stuff just to mess up my car.

What intake and exhaust do you have installed?

A couple of the "problems" he is describing are already known by a lot of people. The Blitz throttle controller says right in the manual/on the box to consider using the reverse overide switch so that when you put the car in reverse it doesn't "surge" (or have a "big kick"). No secret here. Also, it no secret to any of the IS-F owners that when in "D" and you floor it on the highway there is a slightly longer transition between gears than with most automatics. A dealer with an active "F" champion would recognize these things pretty quickly. :D

We have a blitz throttle controller we put on our IS-F for a day or two with the Joe Z exhaust and intake, "oh what fun!"

So does adding the throttle control VOID THE WARRANTY, especially on the tranny?

I had asked this in another post but it was not answered

It's just like any other aftermarket part. If that part is a direct result of a breakdown, than it will not be covered under warranty. If you're ever in doubt of an aftermarket part and worried about your warranty, don't install it. Always research parts you are considering installing to make sure they are reputable and minimize problems.

Does it take longer to shift when you floor it in D because of the 8 gears? my local dealer didnt let me test drive one so I am not sure how it is

That is a big part of the reason along with TCU programming.

I can say is that when in D mode the car is usually at the highest gear close to the speed you're traveling. So it takes a while for the torque to build up. However, if you want the quick pick up from the torque have some fun in manual mode, but at the risk of paying out more money for fuel.

So here it is, and this is what it comes down to. I had placed all my stock parts on my car, and took it to the dealer, and i just got a call from the dealer telling me that they are going to replace my transmission with the torque converters and i will be getting it back next week. woot wooot new transmission

I've been holding my tongue here. This guy abuses his car and screws it up. He then removes all traces of that abuse, and gets Lexus to repair the damage, he caused, under warranty. You think that's a good thing:confused:

Guess who ultimately pays for his warranty protection. Yep, you guessed it - You do in the price of your new vehicle:eek:

Lou,
I unserstand and agree 100% with what your saying. However, I seriously don't think this is Lexus' first day with warranty issues. I'm willing to bet they pulled as much information they could from the car, and if they didn't find or see anything that really stands out, gave him the benefit of the doubt and will replace the transmission. But keep in mind, the second he goes and puts all his aftermarket stuff back on it, and it's damages the new transmission, he's screwed !

I'm not following...if this works once, why wouldn't it work twice (removing all the stuff and Lexus not detecting it a 2nd time)...now, 2 transmission failures would be very odd in the same car and would certianly warrant a lot of investigation I'm sure.....but if someone beat the system once, why can't they beat it again?

Because the First time you get Lexus, shame on you, the Second time, well, there will be no second time. They will go thru that car inside and out, and find out by this transmission that is designed to take abuse is failing.

On top of that, the dealership that sees the vehicle for his regualr maintnance can note what they see/seen on the car. And before you ask, what if he doesn't service is regularly with the Lexus dealership, well then even less chance of the dealership and Lexus willing to want to help him out in the future.

Well said. Having that service history is crucial. You may pay more at the dealership, but when it comes down to it, they are more willing to help out when the going gets tough.

ok this is what it is. If for some reasons it seems to go wrong where the transmission causes a problem again i will take it back to them and claim the lemon law.

I too have been holding back from posting... However, I now feel it proper; Dude jwain, I claim the lemon law on your English grammer. I can only imagine what a wanker you may be at the wheel. Realise please that you are a part of the problem... I suggest you head to nite school & perhaps attempt to learn beyond grade 5. Good luck with that.
