FChampOH 04-27-2009, 09:13 PM Just a quick note to anyone in the Ohio area considering a Joe Z exhaust for your IS-F, I received a brand new shiny Joe Z/PTS exhaust today for our 09' IS-F. We will be installing it in the next couple of days! If you would like to come by and check out how it sounds, please give me a call.

robtown 04-29-2009, 04:54 PM How about another road trip down to Memphis to let me hear it. Or better yet, uninstall it, box it up and just send it my way!!!!
Joe Z 05-05-2009, 06:49 AM Doug,

Doug, I'm happy with the sound of the OEM exhaust but I've only heard nice things about the Joe Z exhaust. I ordered his intake for now but I'm contemplating on getting an exhaust too. But I'm afraid it will sound like an american muscle car (no pun intended) when you hear it from outside. Does it? Honestly, when I hear a gunned AMG pace car pass by or even the Black Series or the Aston Martin, my beef is it sounds like a Mustang. American sound is great but it fits american cars only, in my opinion. Problem is you rarely hear a loud japanese V8 and I also don't know how it should sound like. I think the muscle car sound does not fit the ISF.

I would love to drive to Memphis again in an IS-F! How about a blue one for the wife?? :D

Hey Joe!
Thanks for a great looking exhaust. It's really starting to develop that "stainless" look as goes through some heat cycles. I like it! The welds on it a pretty special too. I love being able to change the tone by gear or throttle position. It's like a song. We didn't take any pictures, I figured there was enough out there.
I just finished putting the intake on (polished, silver car) it looks great. My GM said, "what doesn't the factory do that?" Kudos to you.

Honestly, that american V8 muscle car sound is what sells most of my IS-F customers. If you don't like, you should keep the factory exhaust on. I like the Joe Z because it is an extension of the awesome sound the OE exhaust offers. It sounds like an American muscle car with Ferrari roots, know what I mean? The throttle blips on high speed downshifts are awesome! Maybe THIS is how a Japanese V8 should sound.... Hope that helps a little..
jaslapp1 05-06-2009, 04:06 AM I agree with you doug the Joe Z exhaust sounds amazing. I think you nailed it with the american muscle with ferrari roots.
oarngemig 05-06-2009, 07:47 AM Thanks, I have a better idea and that is encouraging. You see what I like with the sound of the OE is that it reminds me of a Maserrati Ghibli in years gone by. I used to drool over that car as a young kid. It had an 8 but those italians must have tuned the exhaust that it produced a hollow and smooth base tone, pretty much like the Porsche 928. That's what I'm looking for. I don't know if you guys are old enough to know what I'm talking about. he he...
crazee 05-06-2009, 10:25 AM So the Joe-Z exhaust makes the car sound like an American muscle car?!?!?! AAaawww I was hoping for a deep but not loud tone like one of those nice Import cars from japan.. not those sh!tty ones that we have over here that sounds like crap.. some real authentic performance.. =D I don't mind having the Evo 3 or 4 misfiring exhaust/system... >=P
jaslapp1 05-06-2009, 02:01 PM It doesn't sound like a mustang or anything. It has its own sound. I think you'll like it crazee. Kinda like my 87 turbo supra (custom exhaust no cats) but on steroids. It has a lower deeper tone to it.
crazee 05-06-2009, 05:11 PM Mustang = Bad news for me!!

We're getting there ha ha .... Ok sounds better or should I say I feel better. I'm in touch with Chris of Borla and I'm considering it too, also because Borla has been in the business for a few moons now. They should know what they're doing. Comments?
Joe Z 05-10-2009, 09:43 PM Sorry guys.. NO Mustang here....
I am linking a number of Videos taken in the last several weeks and/or months..
Hope you have good speaker systems on your computers..
Lets just say the IS-F with the PTS-Joe Z Exhaust installed, has its own unique sounding V8..

isflojo 05-11-2009, 05:42 AM I agree, I've heard it in person at the Toyotafest yesterday. Flipside and I were playing with Clark's project IS-F, testing the LTS, and the sound is nothing like an American muscle car.
malujerry 05-11-2009, 06:17 AM really? you guys don't think it sounds a little american? i had cobra (4.6 DOHC) before and i thought this reminded me of it - but in the very positive way. maybe it's just sounds like a V8. my old mustang was constantly loud, but this is very good to keep as a daily driver. this is definitely louder inside and out, and has a faster, cleaner, deeper rumble compared to a loud corvette or mustang. and it does sounds better IMO than the new V8 M3's because of the louder rumble at all speeds without the raspy sounds.
everyday since i've had it on, i've caught people in my mirrors who were walking on sidewalks/parking lots turn back and check out my car after passing them up. at car meets, people stop and stare before i even pass them - there's no doubt whether it's an ISF or regular IS x50 at that point. but of course i'm always in a higher rpm now - enjoying the musical note this produces. i'm dead serious, i don't even want a system anymore after getting this!
exhaust on a V8 is an exhaust on a V8... i don't know what people are expecting. here's mine 1st day after install - notice the beginning rumble, which is what reminds me of american musle, but at WOT it is fast, deep, and clean besides me hitting the redline causing a few popping sounds (then again, sound is so subjective - either way enjoy the whole 9 seconds!)

Thanks Doug!!!
So how's everything running so far?? Giving lots of test drives in it?? ;)

FChampOH 06-25-2009, 05:39 PM Hey Joe,
the IS-F we have with your exhaust and intake has been my favorite to drive so far. It has a lot more get up and go than any other F I have driven. I can really feel the torque gain. I love to drive it with the windows down and just listen to it. We have given several test drives in it for sure. I had a forum member come by for a set of Hawk brake pads and we spent a good half hour "test driving" the Joe Z car. He is sold on it. Working on the details of putting one on his car now. Thanks for a great product!!
Doug
