For all of you guys out there running the Joe Z intake pipe and want a new filter hit up Clark at Vip. He has a great deal on an air filter from Tom's that replaces the factory one. If your looking for additional air flow from your stock intake or joe z intake pipe this would be the way to go. I'm waiting for mine to come next week i'll keep everyone informed on how good it is. Knowing Clark he won't disappoint.

just installed mine, very nice product and a perfect fit! Should definately flow more air than the stock filter which has a VERY tight pleat. Not sure how that thing allows any air thru it!

Do you notice a difference in power?

Anyone have any pictures of the stock filter and Toms filter next to each other? I would like to see the difference between the thickness of the two before ordering one.

I'm personally a little skeptical to purchase an aftermarket filter for the F after all the problems and loss of horsepower people have been experiencing with filters already on the market

I havent installed the Exhaust YET, but did install my TOMS air filter on Saturday. WOW! Yes, in conjunction with the intake pipe, it make a difference. I was VERY skeptical about feeling a difference 9even though I know that the DYNO substantiates HP increase clamis), I FELT and HEARD the difference.

In SPORT mode, my 1st - 2nd gear shift resulted in not just a chrip, but a long screetch! I mean, the tires actually spun! All I have is a JOE Z intake pipe and TOMS filter. Cant wait to see what happens when I finally install the JOE Z exhaust!!!!

My car is currently at the dealership for some work but when I get it back I'll be happy to take the filters out and take some pics for ya'll. It is a dry filter that is a little thinner then the stock one. I haven't noticed any gains or losses yet (not that I really would be able to tell if I gained or lost 5 or so rwhp). The car should be back sometime late this afternoon and I can hopefully get those pics taken.

Supraman, reason why I'm interested with drop-ins is because with the warm weather here in the Philippines, my experience with cone/mushroom types (like K&N and HKS) is nothing special. I like Pipercross filters personally but none yet for the F. I ordered the Tom's to see how it does.

Well an Air Filter is just a filter, the potential gains are minimal at best, its more of a complement type of modification. You increase your free flow of the air therefore the potential for more power is there so if you do other modifications it will complement it such as something more free flow like an exhaust system or headers. After you reset the ECU or drive around with the filter on for a week or so the ECU will automatically adjust the Air/Fuel ratio to match your new amount of air that is coming into your engine with that much more fuel. Its always a plus to have a high quality, free flowing filter.

I just had a few extra minutes to snap some photos of the stock filter vs. the TOM's filter. Enjoy

I honestly cannot remember the exact cost of the filter. Clark should be back in his office soon, I'd wait for him to email you back and then ask him to calculate the shipping cost for you.

I actually just purchased these 2 items and am waiting for them to be shipped to Doha. 140 for the Joe Z intake tube and 125 for the Tom's insert (was on a special offer and don't know if it's still on).
I hope to enjoy the tiny bit of difference. Next step would be the exhaust but I'm trying to enjoy it bit by bit as someone else already said on the forum.

Hope the info helps...

Omar I have eactly same setup as yours, JoeZ intake and Tom's drop in filter and my Borla's due to arrive next week. I also got the rear F Sport stabilizers. Those should give me a few smiles.

Definately! did u order the axle back system or the x pipe? I heard the stabilizers give a rougher ride don't they but God will they give you a few smiles :D
Just to tell you I haven't received my products yet and i'm expecting them in the next week and can't wait! Does it make a "nice" (not big) difference?

Mike with the tom's filter on how does the car feel in terms of acceleration and/or responsiveness. I have the JoeZ as well and I am debating whether to get it or not.

I have the Toms/Joe Z setup. There no real seat of the pants difference in feel. Sound wise is robust but subtle. It's noticable compared to stock.

+1 to that. Your not really going to be able to feel a 5wrhp difference in the cabin of the car. I personally am running both with the Joe Z exhaust and once you get them all on the car, then you can feel the intense difference.

It will allow a sort of easier breathing for the car as it's a high flow air filter which in return, yes, compliments the intake. You will see a minimal change but it's good enough, I'm going to install both mine tomorrow!!

Looks like I beat you to it. I put my goodies on last Saturday.. Borla X pipe, Tom's drop in, Joe Z intake, and F Sport rear stab. My car is louder by about 30% I guess. Nice sound but a bit loud for my age. Faster? I think so. Second gear tire peel is certainly more prononuced and longer. I dynoed on Dyna Pack before installing anything and it registered 336 for both whp and torque. I'll do another run perhaps this weekend to see.

No I have not heard the way the Joe Z exhaust sounds, all the ISFs here are stock, I think. It has a nice rumble sound to it though while on idle. I still need to cruise with it and see if it gets tiresome after some time. At pedal to the floor, it has a nice and aggressive sound.

Sorry everyone, I haven't been on here in quite a while.

I personally think the TOMS filter compliments the intake very nicely. As far as more horsepower, I can't give you any numbers as I don't have any. You really don't feel a difference with the filter but, imo, you can hear the engine breathe easier if that makes sense. Since I installed the filter, I've noticed that the engine doesn't feel like it's struggling to suck air in rather the air is flowing more smoothly through the intake system into the engine.

You can get all your parts from Clark at VIP Auto Salon. There is quite a bit of humidity here in Texas as well and I have noticed that since I installed the TOMS filter, when it gets really hot and humid out here, the engine doesn't seem to be struggling or bogged down as much. I haven't had any problems with the TOMS what so ever and I have close to 7k miles running it. I personally wouldn't go back to the stock filter.

May be a stupid question and i know i could find out by phoning Lexus, but i am currently working away and its difficult. But i am looking to buy a Toms filter for my ISF in the UK and i have found one advertised as being for the IS250/350. Is this the same panel or do i need a specific F one?

Thanks

You need a filter specific to the F. ISX50 filters and intake system are different.

Well i finally got hold of my Toms filter and im pleased i fitted it. I found replacing the air filter very easy and in my opinion there is definitely more power. Im not sure on how much but i can definitely feel it.

Im about to buy a Toms filter and Joe Z intake pipe to go with my Borla axle exhaust......so whats better resetting ECU or driving around and allowing the ECU to recalibrate?? (also how do you go about resetting your ECU?)
